ARTISTIC STATEMENT
By way of her sculptures, the artist tells us stories interwoven with glass and copper: “My pieces are often imagined as scenes; they tell a story, or they evoke a memory.” Through sculptural narration, the artist invites us into her intimate poetic universe, which is tinged with real or imagined reflections, reveries, and memories.
Throughout her career, Carole Frève’s work has combined two interrelated research topics: one symbolic, the other technical. The artist’s creative process is distinguished by a combination of several techniques, including glassblowing, kiln casting, lost wax casting, and copper electroforming on glass. Added to this are metal wire knitting and low-tech electronics.
